The First of Chronicles

 

1 Adam, Seth, Enosh,  2 Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared,  3 Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech,

    4 Noah, Shem, Ham and Japheth.

 The sons of Japheth were Gomer and Magog and Madai and Javan and Tubal and Meshech and Tiras.
6
 And the sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz and Riphath and Togarmah.
7
 And the sons of Javan were Elishah and Tarshish, Kittim and Rodanim.

8
 The sons of Ham were Cush and Mizraim, Put and Canaan.
9
 And the sons of Cush were Seba and Havilah and Sabtah and Raamah and Sabteca.
      And the sons of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.

 And Cush himself became father to Nimrod. He it was that made the start in becoming a mighty one in the earth.

 As for Mizraim, he became father to Ludim and Anamim and Lehabim and Naphtuhim 12 and Pathrusim and Casluhim (from among whom the Philistines went forth) and Caphtorim.

        13 As for Canaan, he became father to Sidon his firstborn and Heth 14 and the Jebusite and the Amorite and the Girgashite 15 and the Hivite and the Arkite and the Sinite
              16
 and the Arvadite and the Zemarite and the Hamathite.

        17 The sons of Shem were Elam and Asshur and Arpachshad and Lud and Aram, And Uz and Hul and Gether and Mash.

 As for Arpachshad, he became father to Shelah, and Shelah himself became father to Eber.
19
 And to Eber two sons were born. The name of the one was Peleg, because in his days the earth was divided; and the name of his brother was Joktan.
 20
 As for Joktan, he became father to Almodad and Sheleph and Hazarmaveth and Jerah 21 and Hadoram and Uzal and Diklah 22 and Obal and Abimael and Sheba

 and Ophir and Havilah and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan.

        24 Shem, Arpachshad, Shelah, 25 Eber, Peleg, Reu, 26 Serug, Nahor, Terah, 27 Abram, that is to say, Abraham

 The sons of Abraham were Isaac and Ishmael.

29 These are their family origins: Ishmael’s firstborn Nebaioth and Kedar and Adbeel and Mibsam, 30 Mishma and Dumah, Massa, Hadad and Tema, 31 Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah. These were the sons of Ishmael.

32 As for the sons of Keturah, Abraham’s concubine, she gave birth to Zimran and Jokshan and Medan and Midian and Ishbak and Shuah.
              And the sons of Jokshan were Sheba and Dedan.

33
 And the sons of Midian were Ephah and Epher and Hanoch and Abida and Eldaah.
              All these were the sons of Keturah.

34 And Abraham came to be father to Isaac. The sons of Isaac were Esau and Israel.

 The sons of Esau were Eliphaz, Reuel and Jeush and Jalam and Korah.

 The sons of Eliphaz were Teman and Omar, Zepho and Gatam, Kenaz and Timna and Amalek.
      37
 The sons of Reuel were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah.
      38
 And the sons of Seir were Lotan and Shobal and Zibeon and Anah and Dishon and Ezer and Dishan.
      39
 And the sons of Lotan were Hori and Homam. And Lotan’s sister was Timna.
      40
 The sons of Shobal were Alvan and Manahath and Ebal, Shepho and Onam.
              And the sons of Zibeon were Aiah and Anah.

      41
 The sons of Anah were Dishon.
              And the sons of Dishon were Hemdan and Eshban and Ithran and Cheran.

      42
 The sons of Ezer were Bilhan and Zaavan and Akan.
              The sons of Dishan were Uz and Aran.

43 And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom before any king reigned over the sons of Israel: Bela the son of Beor, the name of whose city was Dinhabah. 44 Eventually Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah from Bozrah began to reign in place of him. 45 Eventually Jobab died, and Husham from the land of the Temanites began to reign in place of him. 46 Eventually Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the field of Moab, began to reign in place of him. And the name of his city was Avith. 47 Eventually Hadad died, and Samlah from Masrekah began to reign in place of him. 48 Eventually Samlah died, and Shaul from Rehoboth by the River began to reign in place of him. 49 Eventually Shaul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor began to reign in place of him. 50 Eventually Baal-hanan died, and Hadad began to reign in place of him; and the name of his city was Pau, and the name of his wife was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab. 51 Eventually Hadad died.

And the sheiks of Edom came to be sheik Timna, sheik Alvah, sheik Jetheth, 52 sheik Oholibamah, sheik Elah, sheik Pinon, 53 sheik Kenaz, sheik Teman, sheik Mibzar, 54 sheik Magdiel, sheik Iram. These were the sheiks of Edom.


2 These were the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi and Judah, Issachar and Zebulun, 2 Dan, Joseph and Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad and Asher.

 The sons of Judah were Er and Onan and Shelah. The three were born to him from Shua’s daughter, the Canaanitess. And Er the firstborn of Judah came to be bad in the eyes of Jehovah, so that he put him to death. 4 And Tamar his daughter-in-law it was that bore to him Perez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah were five.

 The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
      6
 And the sons of Zerah were Zimri and Ethan and Heman and Calcol and Dara. There were five of them in all.
      7
 And the sons of Carmi were Achar the bringer of ostracism upon Israel, who committed an act of unfaithfulness respecting the thing devoted to destruction.
      8
 And the sons of Ethan were Azariah.

 And the sons of Hezron that were born to him were Jerahmeel and Ram and Chelubai.

10 As for Ram, he became father to Amminadab. Amminadab, in turn, became father to Nahshon the chieftain of the sons of Judah. 11 Nahshon, in turn, became father to Salma. Salma, in turn, became father to Boaz. 12 Boaz, in turn, became father to Obed. Obed, in turn, became father to Jesse. 13 Jesse, in turn, became father to his firstborn Eliab, and Abinadab the second, and Shimea the third, 14 Nethanel the fourth, Raddai the fifth, 15 Ozem the sixth, David the seventh. 16 And their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail; and the sons of Zeruiah were Abishai and Joab and Asahel, three. 17 As for Abigail, she gave birth to Amasa; and the father of Amasa was Jether the Ishmaelite.

18 As for Caleb the son of Hezron, he became father to sons by Azubah his wife and by Jerioth; and these were her sons: Jesher and Shobab and Ardon. 19 Eventually Azubah died. So Caleb took to himself Ephrath, who in time bore Hur to him. 20 Hur, in turn, became father to Uri. Uri, in turn, became father to Bezalel.

21 And afterward Hezron had relations with the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead. And he himself took her when he was sixty years old, but she bore Segub to him. 22 Segub, in turn, became father to Jair, who came to have twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead. 23 Later Geshur and Syria took Havvoth-jair from them, with Kenath and its dependent towns, sixty cities. All these were the sons of Machir the father of Gilead.

24 And after the death of Hezron in Caleb-ephrathah, with Abijah being the wife of Hezron, she then bore him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.

25 And the sons of Jerahmeel the firstborn of Hezron were Ram the firstborn and Bunah and Oren and Ozem, Ahijah. 26 And Jerahmeel came to have another wife, whose name was Atarah. She was the mother of Onam. 27 And the sons of Ram the firstborn of Jerahmeel came to be Maaz and Jamin and Eker. 28 And the sons of Onam came to be Shammai and Jada. And the sons of Shammai were Nadab and Abishur. 29 And the name of Abishur’s wife was Abihail, who in time bore him Ahban and Molid. 30 And the sons of Nadab were Seled and Appaim. But Seled died without sons. 31 And the sons of Appaim were Ishi. And the sons of Ishi were Sheshan; and the sons of Sheshan, Ahlai. 32 And the sons of Jada the brother of Shammai were Jether and Jonathan. But Jether died without sons. 33 And the sons of Jonathan were Peleth and Zaza. These became the sons of Jerahmeel.

34 And Sheshan came to have no sons, but daughters. Now Sheshan had an Egyptian servant whose name was Jarha. 35 So Sheshan gave his daughter to Jarha his servant as a wife, who in time bore him Attai. 36 Attai, in turn, became father to Nathan. Nathan, in turn, became father to Zabad. 37 Zabad, in turn, became father to Ephlal. Ephlal, in turn, became father to Obed. 38 Obed, in turn, became father to Jehu. Jehu, in turn, became father to Azariah. 39 Azariah, in turn, became father to Helez. Helez, in turn, became father to Eleasah. 40 Eleasah, in turn, became father to Sismai. Sismai, in turn, became father to Shallum. 41 Shallum, in turn, became father to Jekamiah. Jekamiah, in turn, became father to Elishama.

42 And the sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel were Mesha his firstborn, who was the father of Ziph, and the sons of Mareshah the father of Hebron. 43 And the sons of Hebron were Korah and Tappuah and Rekem and Shema. 44 Shema, in turn, became father to Raham the father of Jorkeam. Rekem, in turn, became father to Shammai. 45 And the son of Shammai was Maon; and Maon was the father of Beth-zur. 46 As for Ephah the concubine of Caleb, she gave birth to Haran and Moza and Gazez. As for Haran, he became father to Gazez. 47 And the sons of Jahdai were Regem and Jotham and Geshan and Pelet and Ephah and Shaaph. 48 As for Caleb’s concubine Maacah, she gave birth to Sheber and Tirhanah. 49 In time she bore Shaaph the father of Madmannah, Sheva the father of Machbenah and the father of Gibea. And Caleb’s daughter was Achsah. 50 These became the sons of Caleb.

The sons of Hur the firstborn of Ephrathah: Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim, 51 Salma the father of Bethlehem, Hareph the father of Beth-gader. 52 And Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim came to have sons: Haroeh, half of the Menuhoth. 53 And the families of Kiriath-jearim were the Ithrites and the Puthites and the Shumathites and the Mishraites. It was from these that the Zorathites and the Eshtaolites came out. 54 The sons of Salma were Bethlehem and the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab and half of the Manahathites, the Zorites. 55 And the families of the scribes dwelling at Jabez were the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, the Sucathites. These were the Kenites that came from Hammath the father of the house of Rechab.
