45  Απαντώντας κάποιος από τους ειδήμονες  στο Νόμο τού είπε: «Δάσκαλε, λέγοντας αυτά τα πράγματα προσβάλλεις και εμάς». 46  Τότε αυτός είπε: «Αλίμονο και σε εσάς που είστε ειδήμονες στο Νόμο, επειδή φορτώνετε τους ανθρώπους με φορτία δυσβάσταχτα, αλλά εσείς ούτε με ένα σας δάχτυλο δεν αγγίζετε τα φορτία!  

   47  »Αλίμονο σε εσάς, επειδή χτίζετε τα μνημεία των προφητών, αλλά οι προπάτορές σας τους σκότωσαν!  48  Ασφαλώς είστε μάρτυρες των έργων των προπατόρων σας, και όμως συναινείτε  με αυτούς, επειδή αυτοί σκότωσαν  τους προφήτες αλλά εσείς χτίζετε τα μνημεία τους. 49  Γι’ αυτό και η σοφία  του Θεού είπε: “Θα αποστείλω σε αυτούς προφήτες και αποστόλους, και θα σκοτώσουν και θα επιφέρουν διωγμό σε μερικούς από αυτούς, 50  ώστε το αίμα όλων των προφητών  που χύθηκε από τη θεμελίωση του κόσμου να ζητηθεί από αυτή τη γενιά,  51  από το αίμα του Άβελ  ως το αίμα του Ζαχαρία,  ο οποίος φονεύτηκε ανάμεσα στο θυσιαστήριο και στον οίκο”.  Ναι, σας λέω, θα ζητηθεί από αυτή τη γενιά.

   52  »Αλίμονο σε εσάς που είστε ειδήμονες στο Νόμο, επειδή αφαιρέσατε το κλειδί της γνώσης·  εσείς οι ίδιοι δεν μπήκατε, και αυτούς που έμπαιναν τους εμποδίσατε!»  

   53  Και όταν βγήκε από εκεί, οι γραμματείς και οι Φαρισαίοι άρχισαν να τον πιέζουν τρομερά και να τον κατακλύζουν με ερωτήσεις για επιπλέον πράγματα, 54  παραμονεύοντάς  τον για να πιάσουν  κάτι από το στόμα του.

12  Στο μεταξύ, αφού συγκεντρώθηκε το πλήθος κατά χιλιάδες, τόσο πολλοί που πατούσαν ο ένας τον άλλον, άρχισε να λέει πρώτα στους μαθητές του: «Να προσέχετε από το προζύμι  των Φαρισαίων, το οποίο είναι η υποκρισία.  2  Αλλά δεν υπάρχει τίποτα προσεκτικά αποκρυμμένο που δεν θα αποκαλυφτεί, και μυστικό που δεν θα γίνει γνωστό.  3  Γι’ αυτό, όσα πείτε στο σκοτάδι θα ακουστούν στο φως, και ό,τι ψιθυρίσετε στα ιδιαίτερα δωμάτια θα κηρυχτεί από τις ταράτσες.  4  Επιπλέον, λέω σε εσάς, τους φίλους  μου: Μη φοβηθείτε εκείνους που θανατώνουν το σώμα και έπειτα από αυτό δεν μπορούν να κάνουν τίποτα περισσότερο.  5  Αλλά θα σας δείξω ποιον να φοβηθείτε: Φοβηθείτε εκείνον  που, αφού θανατώσει, έχει εξουσία να ρίξει στη Γέεννα.  Ναι, σας λέω, Αυτόν φοβηθείτε.  6  Δεν πουλιούνται πέντε σπουργίτια αντί δύο νομισμάτων μικρής αξίας; Εντούτοις, ούτε ένα από αυτά δεν είναι ξεχασμένο ενώπιον του Θεού.  7  Αλλά όσο για εσάς, ακόμη και οι τρίχες  του κεφαλιού σας είναι όλες αριθμημένες. Μη φοβάστε· εσείς αξίζετε περισσότερο από πολλά σπουργίτια.  

   8  »Σας λέω λοιπόν: Όποιος ομολογήσει  ενότητα με εμένα ενώπιον των ανθρώπων, και ο Γιος του ανθρώπου θα ομολογήσει ενότητα με εκείνον ενώπιον των αγγέλων του Θεού.  9  Αλλά αυτόν που θα με απαρνηθεί  ενώπιον των ανθρώπων θα τον απαρνηθώ ενώπιον των αγγέλων του Θεού.  10  Και όποιος πει κάποιον λόγο εναντίον του Γιου του ανθρώπου, θα του συγχωρηθεί· αλλά σε αυτόν που θα βλασφημήσει εναντίον του αγίου πνεύματος, δεν θα του συγχωρηθεί.  11  Και όταν σας φέρουν μπροστά σε δημόσιες συνάξεις και κυβερνητικούς αξιωματούχους και εξουσίες, μην ανησυχήσετε για το πώς ή σχετικά με τι θα μιλήσετε υπερασπιζόμενοι τον εαυτό σας ή τι θα πείτε·  12  διότι το άγιο πνεύμα  θα σας διδάξει εκείνη την ώρα αυτά που πρέπει να πείτε».  

45 In answer a certain one of those versed in the Law said to him: “Teacher, in saying these things you also insult us.” 46 Then he said: “Woe also to YOU who are versed in the Law, because YOU load men with loads hard to be borne, but YOU yourselves do not touch the loads with one of YOUR fingers!

47 “Woe to YOU, because YOU build the memorial tombs of the prophets, but YOUR forefathers killed them! 48 Certainly YOU are witnesses of the deeds of YOUR forefathers and yet YOU give consent to them, because these killed the prophets but YOU are building [their tombs]. 49 On this account the wisdom of God also said, ‘I will send forth to them prophets and apostles, and they will kill and persecute some of them, 50 so that the blood of all the prophets spilled from the founding of the world may be required from this generation, 51 from the blood of Abel down to the blood of Zechariah, who was slain between the altar and the house.’ Yes, I tell YOU, it will be required from this generation.

52 “Woe to YOU who are versed in the Law, because YOU took away the key of knowledge; YOU yourselves did not go in, and those going in YOU hindered!”

53 So when he went out from there the scribes and the Pharisees started in to press upon him terribly and to ply him with questions about further things, 54 lying in wait for him, to catch something out of his mouth.

12 In the meantime, when the crowd had gathered together in so many thousands that they were stepping upon one another, he started out by saying first to his disciples: “Watch out for the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. 2 But there is nothing carefully concealed that will not be revealed, and secret that will not become known. 3 Wherefore what things YOU say in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what YOU whisper in private rooms will be preached from the housetops. 4 Moreover, I say to YOU, my friends, Do not fear those who kill the body and after this are not able to do anything more. 5 But I will indicate to YOU whom to fear: Fear him who after killing has authority to throw into Gehenna. Yes, I tell YOU, fear this One. 6 Five sparrows sell for two coins of small value, do they not? Yet not one of them goes forgotten before God. 7 But even the hairs of YOUR heads are all numbered. Have no fear; YOU are worth more than many sparrows.

8 “I say, then, to YOU, Everyone that confesses union with me before men, the Son of man will also confess union with him before the angels of God. 9 But he that disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God. 10 And everyone that says a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but he that blasphemes against the holy spirit will not be forgiven it. 11 But when they bring YOU in before public assemblies and government officials and authorities, do not become anxious about how or what YOU will speak in defense or what YOU will say; 12 for the holy spirit will teach YOU in that very hour the things YOU ought to say.”
