27  Ωστόσο, ορισμένοι από τους Σαδδουκαίους, εκείνους οι οποίοι λένε ότι δεν υπάρχει ανάσταση, πλησίασαν  και τον ρώτησαν, 28  λέγοντας: «Δάσκαλε, ο Μωυσής  μάς έγραψε: “Αν κάποιου ο αδελφός, που έχει σύζυγο, πεθάνει παραμένοντας άτεκνος, ο αδελφός  του πρέπει να πάρει τη σύζυγο και να εγείρει από αυτήν απόγονο για τον αδελφό του”.  29  Ήταν, λοιπόν, εφτά αδέλφια· και ο πρώτος πήρε σύζυγο και πέθανε άτεκνος.  30  Το ίδιο και ο δεύτερος· 31  την πήρε και ο τρίτος. Παρόμοια και οι εφτά: δεν άφησαν παιδιά, και ένας ένας πέθαναν.  32  Τελικά, πέθανε και η γυναίκα.  33  Στην ανάσταση, λοιπόν, τίνος από αυτούς γίνεται σύζυγος; Διότι και οι εφτά την πήραν σύζυγο».  

   34  Ο Ιησούς τούς είπε: «Τα παιδιά αυτού του συστήματος πραγμάτων παντρεύονται  και τα δίνουν σε γάμο, 35  αλλά εκείνοι που έχουν υπολογιστεί άξιοι  να κερδίσουν εκείνο το σύστημα πραγμάτων  και την ανάσταση από τους νεκρούς  ούτε παντρεύονται ούτε τους δίνουν σε γάμο. 36  Μάλιστα, δεν μπορούν πια ούτε να πεθάνουν,  γιατί είναι σαν τους αγγέλους, και είναι παιδιά του Θεού όντας παιδιά της ανάστασης.  37  Αλλά το ότι οι νεκροί εγείρονται, και ο Μωυσής το φανέρωσε στην αφήγηση για τη βάτο,  όταν αποκαλεί τον Ιεχωβά “Θεό του Αβραάμ και Θεό του Ισαάκ και Θεό του Ιακώβ”.  38  Αυτός είναι Θεός, όχι των νεκρών, αλλά των ζωντανών, επειδή, για αυτόν, όλοι είναι ζωντανοί».  39  Απαντώντας μερικοί από τους γραμματείς είπαν: «Δάσκαλε, καλά μίλησες». 40  Διότι δεν είχαν πια το θάρρος να του κάνουν ούτε μία ερώτηση.

   41  Κατόπιν τους είπε: «Πώς γίνεται να λένε ότι ο Χριστός είναι γιος του Δαβίδ;  42  Διότι ο ίδιος ο Δαβίδ λέει στο βιβλίο των Ψαλμών: “Ο Ιεχωβά είπε στον Κύριό μου: «Κάθησε στα δεξιά μου 43  ώσπου να θέσω τους εχθρούς σου υποπόδιο για τα πόδια σου»”.  44  Άρα, ο Δαβίδ τον αποκαλεί “Κύριο”· πώς, λοιπόν, αυτός είναι γιος του;»

   45  Και ενώ άκουγε όλος ο λαός, είπε στους μαθητές:  46  «Προσέχετε από τους γραμματείς οι οποίοι θέλουν να περπατούν φορώντας στολές και τους αρέσουν οι χαιρετισμοί στις αγορές και τα μπροστινά καθίσματα στις συναγωγές και οι πιο εξέχουσες θέσεις στα δείπνα,  47  και οι οποίοι καταβροχθίζουν τα σπίτια των χηρών  και με διάφορες προφάσεις κάνουν μεγάλες προσευχές. Αυτοί θα λάβουν βαρύτερη κρίση».

21  Καθώς σήκωσε τα μάτια του, είδε τους πλούσιους να ρίχνουν τα δώρα τους στα χρηματοφυλάκια.  2  Κατόπιν είδε μια άπορη χήρα να ρίχνει εκεί δύο μικρά νομίσματα ελάχιστης αξίας  3  και είπε: «Σας λέω αληθινά: Αυτή η χήρα, αν και φτωχή, έριξε περισσότερα από όσα έριξαν όλοι.  4  Διότι όλοι αυτοί έριξαν δώρα από το περίσσευμά τους, αυτή όμως από το υστέρημά της έριξε όλο το βιος που είχε».  

   5  Αργότερα, καθώς ορισμένοι μιλούσαν σχετικά με το ναό, λέγοντας πως ήταν στολισμένος με καλές πέτρες και αφιερώματα,  6  εκείνος είπε: «Όσο για αυτά που βλέπετε, θα έρθουν ημέρες κατά τις οποίες δεν θα αφεθεί εδώ πέτρα πάνω σε πέτρα που να μην γκρεμιστεί».  7  Τότε τον ρώτησαν, λέγοντας: «Δάσκαλε, πότε λοιπόν θα γίνουν αυτά, και ποιο θα είναι το σημείο όταν αυτά μέλλουν να συμβούν;»  8  Αυτός είπε: «Προσέχετε μην παροδηγηθείτε·  διότι πολλοί θα έρθουν με βάση το όνομά μου, λέγοντας: “Εγώ είμαι αυτός” και “Ο ορισμένος καιρός έχει πλησιάσει”.  Μην τους ακολουθήσετε. 9  Επιπλέον, όταν ακούσετε για πολέμους και ταραχές, μην τρομοκρατηθείτε.  Διότι αυτά πρέπει να συμβούν πρώτα, αλλά το τέλος δεν έρχεται αμέσως».
 

27 However, some of the Sadducees, those who say there is no resurrection, came up and questioned him, 28 saying: “Teacher, Moses wrote us, ‘If a man’s brother dies having a wife, but this one remained childless, his brother should take the wife and raise up offspring from her for his brother.’ 29 Accordingly there were seven brothers; and the first took a wife and died childless. 30 So the second, 31 and the third took her. Likewise even the seven: they did not leave children behind, but died off. 32 Lastly, the woman also died. 33 Consequently, in the resurrection, of which one of them does she become [the] wife? For the seven got her as wife.”

34 Jesus said to them: “The children of this system of things marry and are given in marriage, 35 but those who have been counted worthy of gaining that system of things and the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. 36 In fact, neither can they die anymore, for they are like the angels, and they are God’s children by being children of the resurrection. 37 But that the dead are raised up even Moses disclosed, in the account about the thornbush, when he calls Jehovah ‘the God of Abraham and God of Isaac and God of Jacob.’ 38 He is a God, not of the dead, but of the living, for they are all living to him.” 39 In response some of the scribes said: “Teacher, you spoke well.” 40 For no longer did they have the courage to ask him a single question.

41 In turn he said to them: “How is it they say that the Christ is David’s son? 42 For David himself says in the book of Psalms, ‘Jehovah said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand 43 until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet.’ 44 David, therefore, calls him ‘Lord’; so how is he his son?”

45 Then, while all the people were listening he said to the disciples: 46 “Look out for the scribes who desire to walk around in robes and like greetings in the marketplaces and front seats in the synagogues and most prominent places at evening meals, 47 and who devour the houses of the widows and for a pretext make long prayers. These will receive a heavier judgment.”

21 Now as he looked up he saw the rich dropping their gifts into the treasury chests. 2 Then he saw a certain needy widow drop two small coins of very little value there, 3 and he said: “I tell YOU truthfully, This widow, although poor, dropped in more than they all did. 4 For all these dropped in gifts out of their surplus, but this [woman] out of her want dropped in all the means of living she had.”

5 Later, as certain ones were speaking concerning the temple, how it was adorned with fine stones and dedicated things, 6 he said: “As for these things that YOU are beholding, the days will come in which not a stone upon a stone will be left here and not be thrown down.” 7 Then they questioned him, saying: “Teacher, when will these things actually be, and what will be the sign when these things are destined to occur?” 8 He said: “Look out that YOU are not misled; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The due time has approached.’ Do not go after them. 9 Furthermore, when YOU hear of wars and disorders, do not be terrified. For these things must occur first, but the end does not [occur] immediately.”
