      Αποκάλυψη 6:1 — 6:17

6  Και είδα όταν άνοιξε το Αρνί  μία από τις εφτά σφραγίδες,  και άκουσα ένα από τα τέσσερα ζωντανά πλάσματα  να λέει με φωνή σαν βροντής: «Έλα!»  2  Και είδα ένα λευκό άλογο·  και εκείνος που καθόταν  πάνω σε αυτό είχε τόξο·  και του δόθηκε στέμμα,  και προχώρησε νικώντας  και για να ολοκληρώσει τη νίκη του.  

   3  Και όταν άνοιξε τη δεύτερη σφραγίδα, άκουσα το δεύτερο ζωντανό πλάσμα  να λέει: «Έλα!» 4  Και βγήκε ένα άλλο άλογο, πυρόχρωμο· και σε εκείνον που καθόταν πάνω σε αυτό επιτράπηκε να αφαιρέσει την ειρήνη από τη γη για να σφάξουν ο ένας τον άλλον· και του δόθηκε ένα μεγάλο σπαθί.  

   5  Και όταν άνοιξε  την τρίτη σφραγίδα, άκουσα το τρίτο ζωντανό πλάσμα  να λέει: «Έλα!» Και είδα ένα μαύρο άλογο· και εκείνος που καθόταν πάνω σε αυτό είχε ζυγαριά  στο χέρι του. 6  Και άκουσα μια φωνή σαν να έβγαινε ανάμεσα  από τα τέσσερα ζωντανά πλάσματα  να λέει: «Ένα λίτρο σιταριού για ένα δηνάριο, και τρία λίτρα κριθαριού για ένα δηνάριο·  και μη βλάψεις το ελαιόλαδο και το κρασί».  

   7  Και όταν άνοιξε την τέταρτη σφραγίδα, άκουσα τη φωνή του τέταρτου ζωντανού πλάσματος  να λέει: «Έλα!» 8  Και είδα ένα ωχρό άλογο· και εκείνος που καθόταν πάνω σε αυτό είχε το όνομα Θάνατος. Και ο Άδης  τον ακολουθούσε από κοντά. Και τους δόθηκε εξουσία πάνω στο ένα τέταρτο της γης, για να σκοτώσουν με μακρύ σπαθί  και με πείνα  και με θανατηφόρα πληγή και μέσω των θηρίων  της γης.

   9  Και όταν άνοιξε την πέμπτη σφραγίδα, είδα κάτω από το θυσιαστήριο  τις ψυχές  εκείνων που σφάχτηκαν  εξαιτίας του λόγου του Θεού και εξαιτίας του έργου μαρτυρίας  που είχαν. 10  Και κραύγασαν με δυνατή φωνή, λέγοντας: «Ως πότε, Υπέρτατε  Κύριε άγιε και αληθινέ,  θα αποφεύγεις να κρίνεις  και να πάρεις εκδίκηση για το αίμα  μας από εκείνους που κατοικούν στη γη;» 11  Και δόθηκε στον καθένα τους μια λευκή  στολή· και τους ειπώθηκε να αναπαυτούν λίγο ακόμη, μέχρι να συμπληρωθεί και ο αριθμός των συνδούλων τους και των αδελφών τους οι οποίοι επρόκειτο να θανατωθούν  όπως και αυτοί.

   12  Και είδα όταν άνοιξε την έκτη σφραγίδα, και έγινε μεγάλος σεισμός· και ο ήλιος έγινε μαύρος σαν τρίχινος σάκος,  και ολόκληρη η σελήνη έγινε σαν αίμα,  13  και τα άστρα του ουρανού έπεσαν στη γη, όπως όταν η συκιά που κουνιέται από δυνατό άνεμο ρίχνει τα άγουρα σύκα της. 14  Και ο ουρανός αποχώρησε σαν ρόλος που τυλίγεται,  και κάθε βουνό και κάθε νησί μετακινήθηκαν από τον τόπο τους.  15  Και οι βασιλιάδες της γης και οι μεγιστάνες και οι στρατιωτικοί διοικητές και οι πλούσιοι και οι ισχυροί και κάθε δούλος και κάθε ελεύθερος κρύφτηκαν στις σπηλιές και στους βράχους  των βουνών. 16  Και λένε στα βουνά και στους βράχους: «Πέστε πάνω μας  και κρύψτε μας από το πρόσωπο Εκείνου που κάθεται στο θρόνο  και από την οργή του Αρνιού,  17  επειδή έχει έρθει η μεγάλη ημέρα  της οργής  τους, και ποιος μπορεί να σταθεί;»
 

6 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice as of thunder: “Come!” 2 And I saw, and, look! a white horse; and the one seated upon it had a bow; and a crown was given him, and he went forth conquering and to complete his conquest.

3 And when he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say: “Come!” 4 And another came forth, a fiery-colored horse; and to the one seated upon it there was granted to take peace away from the earth so that they should slaughter one another; and a great sword was given him.

5 And when he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say: “Come!” And I saw, and, look! a black horse; and the one seated upon it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice as if in the midst of the four living creatures say: “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the olive oil and the wine.”

7 And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say: “Come!” 8 And I saw, and, look! a pale horse; and the one seated upon it had the name Death. And Hades was closely following him. And authority was given them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with a long sword and with food shortage and with deadly plague and by the wild beasts of the earth.

9 And when he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those slaughtered because of the word of God and because of the witness work that they used to have. 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying: “Until when, Sovereign Lord holy and true, are you refraining from judging and avenging our blood upon those who dwell on the earth?” 11 And a white robe was given to each of them; and they were told to rest a little while longer, until the number was filled also of their fellow slaves and their brothers who were about to be killed as they also had been.

12 And I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and a great earthquake occurred; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the entire moon became as blood, 13 and the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as when a fig tree shaken by a high wind casts its unripe figs. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and [every] island were removed from their places. 15 And the kings of the earth and the top-ranking ones and the military commanders and the rich and the strong ones and every slave and [every] free person hid themselves in the caves and in the rock-masses of the mountains. 16 And they keep saying to the mountains and to the rock-masses: “Fall over us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 because the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
