     Αποκάλυψη 9:1 — 9:21

9  Και ο πέμπτος άγγελος σάλπισε.  Και είδα ένα άστρο  που είχε πέσει από τον ουρανό στη γη, και του δόθηκε το κλειδί  του λάκκου της αβύσσου.  2  Και άνοιξε το λάκκο της αβύσσου, και ανέβηκε καπνός  από το λάκκο σαν τον καπνό μεγάλου καμινιού,  και ο ήλιος σκοτείνιασε,  καθώς και ο αέρας, από τον καπνό του λάκκου. 3  Και από τον καπνό βγήκαν ακρίδες  πάνω στη γη· και δόθηκε σε αυτές εξουσία, ίδια με την εξουσία την οποία έχουν οι σκορπιοί  της γης. 4  Και ειπώθηκε σε αυτές να μη βλάψουν τη βλάστηση της γης ούτε κανένα χλωρό πράγμα ούτε κανένα δέντρο, αλλά μόνο εκείνους τους ανθρώπους που δεν έχουν τη σφραγίδα του Θεού στα μέτωπά τους.  

   5  Και επιτράπηκε στις ακρίδες, όχι να τους σκοτώσουν, αλλά να βασανιστούν  αυτοί πέντε μήνες, και ο βασανισμός τους ήταν σαν βασανισμός από σκορπιό  όταν χτυπήσει άνθρωπο. 6  Και εκείνες τις ημέρες οι άνθρωποι θα ζητήσουν το θάνατο  αλλά δεν πρόκειται να τον βρουν, και θα θελήσουν να πεθάνουν αλλά ο θάνατος φεύγει από αυτούς.

   7  Και οι μορφές των ακρίδων έμοιαζαν με άλογα  ετοιμασμένα για μάχη· και πάνω στα κεφάλια τους φαινόταν να υπάρχουν στέμματα σαν χρυσάφι, και τα πρόσωπά τους ήταν σαν πρόσωπα αντρών,  8  αλλά είχαν μαλλιά σαν μαλλιά γυναικών.  Και τα δόντια τους ήταν σαν των λιονταριών·  9  και είχαν θώρακες  σαν σιδερένιους θώρακες. Και ο ήχος των φτερούγων τους ήταν σαν τον ήχο από άρματα  πολλών αλόγων που τρέχουν σε μάχη.  10  Επίσης, έχουν ουρές και κεντριά σαν σκορπιοί·  και στις ουρές τους βρίσκεται η εξουσία τους να βλάψουν τους ανθρώπους πέντε μήνες. 11  Έχουν βασιλιά τους τον άγγελο της αβύσσου.  Στην εβραϊκή το όνομά του είναι Αβαδδών, στη δε ελληνική έχει το όνομα Απολλύων.  
   12  Το ένα αλίμονο πέρασε. Δες! Δύο ακόμη αλίμονο  έρχονται έπειτα από αυτά.

   13  Και ο έκτος άγγελος  σάλπισε.  Και άκουσα μία φωνή  από τα κέρατα του χρυσού θυσιαστηρίου  που είναι ενώπιον του Θεού 14  να λέει στον έκτο άγγελο, ο οποίος είχε τη σάλπιγγα: «Λύσε τους τέσσερις αγγέλους  που είναι δεμένοι  στο μεγάλο ποταμό Ευφράτη».  15  Και λύθηκαν οι τέσσερις άγγελοι, οι οποίοι έχουν ετοιμαστεί για την ώρα και την ημέρα και το μήνα και το έτος, για να σκοτώσουν το ένα τρίτο των ανθρώπων.
   16  Και ο αριθμός των στρατευμάτων του ιππικού ήταν δύο μυριάδες μυριάδων: Άκουσα τον αριθμό τους. 17  Και να πώς είδα τα άλογα στο όραμα και εκείνους που κάθονταν πάνω σε αυτά: Είχαν θώρακες κόκκινους σαν τη φωτιά και μπλε σαν τον υάκινθο και κίτρινους σαν το θειάφι· και τα κεφάλια των αλόγων ήταν σαν κεφάλια λιονταριών,  και από το στόμα τους έβγαινε φωτιά και καπνός και θειάφι.  18  Με αυτές τις τρεις πληγές θανατώθηκε το ένα τρίτο των ανθρώπων, από τη φωτιά και τον καπνό και το θειάφι που έβγαιναν από το στόμα τους. 19  Διότι η εξουσία των αλόγων βρίσκεται στα στόματά τους και στις ουρές τους· διότι οι ουρές τους είναι όμοιες με φίδια  και έχουν κεφάλια, και βλάπτουν με αυτές.
   20  Οι υπόλοιποι άνθρωποι, όμως, οι οποίοι δεν θανατώθηκαν με αυτές τις πληγές δεν μετανόησαν από τα έργα των χεριών τους,  ώστε να μη λατρέψουν τους δαίμονες  και τα είδωλα τα χρυσά και τα ασημένια  και τα χάλκινα και τα πέτρινα και τα ξύλινα, τα οποία ούτε να βλέπουν μπορούν ούτε να ακούν ούτε να περπατούν·  21  και δεν μετανόησαν από τους φόνους  τους ούτε από τις πνευματιστικές τους πράξεις  ούτε από την πορνεία τους ούτε από τις κλοπές τους.

 

9 And the fifth angel blew his trumpet. And I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to the earth, and the key of the pit of the abyss was given him. 2 And he opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke ascended out of the pit as the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun was darkened, also the air, by the smoke of the pit. 3 And out of the smoke locusts came forth upon the earth; and authority was given them, the same authority as the scorpions of the earth have. 4 And they were told to harm no vegetation of the earth nor any green thing nor any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
      5 And it was granted the [locusts], not to kill them, but that these should be tormented five months, and the torment upon them was as torment by a scorpion when it strikes a man. 6 And in those days the men will seek death but will by no means find it, and they will desire to die but death keeps fleeing from them.
      7 And the likenesses of the locusts resembled horses prepared for battle; and upon their heads [were] what seemed to be crowns like gold, and their faces [were] as men’s faces, 8 but they had hair as women’s hair. And their teeth were as those of lions; 9 and they had breastplates like iron breastplates. And the sound of their wings [was] as the sound of chariots of many horses running into battle. 10 Also, they have tails and stings like scorpions; and in their tails is their authority to hurt the men five months. 11 They have over them a king, the angel of the abyss. In Hebrew his name is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon.
      12 The one woe is past. Look! Two more woes are coming after these things.

13 And the sixth angel blew his trumpet. And I heard one voice out of the horns of the golden altar that is before God 14 say to the sixth angel, who had the trumpet: “Untie the four angels that are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 And the four angels were untied, who have been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, to kill a third of the men.
      16 And the number of the armies of cavalry was two myriads of myriads: I heard the number of them. 17 And this is how I saw the horses in the vision, and those seated on them: they had fire-red and hyacinth-blue and sulphur-yellow breastplates; and the heads of the horses were as heads of lions, and out of their mouths fire and smoke and sulphur issued forth. 18 By these three plagues a third of the men were killed, from the fire and the smoke and the sulphur which issued forth from their mouths. 19 For the authority of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents and have heads, and with these they do harm.
      20 But the rest of the men who were not killed by these plagues did not repent of the works of their hands, so that they should not worship the demons and the idols of gold and silver and copper and stone and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; 21 and they did not repent of their murders nor of their spiritistic practices nor of their fornication nor of their thefts.
