     Αποκάλυψη 13:1 — 13:18

13  Και στάθηκε πάνω στην άμμο  της θάλασσας.
   Και είδα ένα θηρίο  να ανεβαίνει από τη θάλασσα,  το οποίο είχε δέκα κέρατα  και εφτά κεφάλια,  και πάνω στα κέρατά του δέκα διαδήματα, αλλά πάνω στα κεφάλια του βλάσφημα  ονόματα. 2  Και το θηρίο που είδα ήταν όμοιο με λεοπάρδαλη,  αλλά τα πόδια του ήταν σαν αρκούδας  και το στόμα του ήταν σαν στόμα λιονταριού.  Και ο δράκοντας  έδωσε στο θηρίο τη δύναμή του και το θρόνο του και μεγάλη εξουσία.  

   3  Και είδα ένα από τα κεφάλια του σαν σφαγμένο θανάσιμα, αλλά το θανάσιμο πλήγμα  του γιατρεύτηκε, και όλη η γη ακολούθησε το θηρίο με θαυμασμό. 4  Και λάτρεψαν το δράκοντα επειδή έδωσε την εξουσία στο θηρίο, και λάτρεψαν το θηρίο, λέγοντας: «Ποιος είναι όμοιος με το θηρίο, και ποιος μπορεί να πολεμήσει μαζί του;» 5  Και του δόθηκε στόμα που λέει μεγάλα πράγματα  και βλασφημίες,  και του δόθηκε εξουσία να δράσει σαράντα δύο μήνες.  6  Και άνοιξε το στόμα του με βλασφημίες  εναντίον του Θεού, για να βλασφημήσει το όνομά του και την κατοικία του, εκείνους που κατοικούν στον ουρανό.  7  Και του επιτράπηκε  να διεξαγάγει πόλεμο με τους αγίους και να τους νικήσει,  και του δόθηκε εξουσία πάνω σε κάθε φυλή και λαό και γλώσσα και έθνος. 8  Και όλοι εκείνοι που κατοικούν στη γη θα το λατρέψουν· ούτε ενός από αυτούς το όνομα δεν έχει γραφτεί στο ρόλο  της ζωής του Αρνιού που σφάχτηκε,  από τη θεμελίωση του κόσμου.  

   9  Αν κάποιος έχει αφτί, ας ακούσει.  10  Αν κάποιος προορίζεται για αιχμαλωσία, πηγαίνει σε αιχμαλωσία.  Αν κάποιος θανατώσει με σπαθί, πρέπει να θανατωθεί με σπαθί.  Εδώ είναι που περιλαμβάνεται η υπομονή  και η πίστη  των αγίων.  

   11  Και είδα άλλο θηρίο  να ανεβαίνει από τη γη,  και είχε δύο κέρατα όμοια με αρνιού, αλλά άρχισε να μιλάει σαν δράκοντας.  12  Και αυτό ασκεί όλη την εξουσία του πρώτου θηρίου  ενώπιόν του. Και κάνει τη γη και εκείνους που κατοικούν σε αυτήν να λατρέψουν το πρώτο θηρίο, του οποίου γιατρεύτηκε το θανάσιμο πλήγμα.  13  Και εκτελεί μεγάλα σημεία,  ώστε να κάνει ακόμη και φωτιά να πέφτει στη γη από τον ουρανό ενώπιον της ανθρωπότητας.
   14  Και παροδηγεί εκείνους που κατοικούν στη γη, λόγω των σημείων που του επιτράπηκε να εκτελέσει ενώπιον του θηρίου, ενώ λέει σε εκείνους που κατοικούν στη γη να κάνουν εικόνα  στο θηρίο που είχε το πλήγμα από το σπαθί  και εντούτοις αναζωογονήθηκε. 15  Και του επιτράπηκε να δώσει πνοή στην εικόνα του θηρίου, ώστε και να μιλήσει η εικόνα του θηρίου και να κάνει να θανατωθούν όλοι όσοι δεν λατρέψουν με κανέναν τρόπο την εικόνα  του θηρίου.

   16  Και τους εξαναγκάζει όλους,  τους μικρούς και τους μεγάλους, και τους πλούσιους και τους φτωχούς, και τους ελεύθερους και τους δούλους, ώστε να δοθεί σε αυτούς σημάδι στο δεξί τους χέρι ή στο μέτωπό τους,  17  και κανείς να μην μπορεί να αγοράσει ή να πουλήσει παρά μόνο εκείνος που έχει το σημάδι, το όνομα  του θηρίου ή τον αριθμό του ονόματός του.  18  Εδώ είναι που υπεισέρχεται η σοφία: Εκείνος που έχει νοημοσύνη ας υπολογίσει τον αριθμό του θηρίου, γιατί είναι αριθμός ανθρώπου·  και ο αριθμός του είναι εξακόσια εξήντα έξι.  
 

13 And it stood still upon the sand of the sea.
      And I saw a wild beast ascending out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, and upon its horns ten diadems, but upon its heads blasphemous names. 2 Now the wild beast that I saw was like a leopard, but its feet were as those of a bear, and its mouth was as a lion’s mouth. And the dragon gave to [the beast] its power and its throne and great authority.

3 And I saw one of its heads as though slaughtered to death, but its death-stroke got healed, and all the earth followed the wild beast with admiration. 4 And they worshiped the dragon because it gave the authority to the wild beast, and they worshiped the wild beast with the words: “Who is like the wild beast, and who can do battle with it?” 5 And a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies was given it, and authority to act forty-two months was given it. 6 And it opened its mouth in blasphemies against God, to blaspheme his name and his residence, even those residing in heaven. 7 And there was granted it to wage war with the holy ones and conquer them, and authority was given it over every tribe and people and tongue and nation. 8 And all those who dwell on the earth will worship it; the name of not one of them stands written in the scroll of life of the Lamb who was slaughtered, from the founding of the world.
      9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10 If anyone [is meant] for captivity, he goes away into captivity. If anyone will kill with the sword, he must be killed with the sword. Here is where it means the endurance and faith of the holy ones.

11 And I saw another wild beast ascending out of the earth, and it had two horns like a lamb, but it began speaking as a dragon. 12 And it exercises all the authority of the first wild beast in its sight. And it makes the earth and those who dwell in it worship the first wild beast, whose death-stroke got healed. 13 And it performs great signs, so that it should even make fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the sight of mankind.
      14 And it misleads those who dwell on the earth, because of the signs that were granted it to perform in the sight of the wild beast, while it tells those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the wild beast that had the sword-stroke and yet revived. 15 And there was granted it to give breath to the image of the wild beast, so that the image of the wild beast should both speak and cause to be killed all those who would not in any way worship the image of the wild beast.

16 And it puts under compulsion all persons, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the slaves, that they should give these a mark in their right hand or upon their forehead, 17 and that nobody might be able to buy or sell except a person having the mark, the name of the wild beast or the number of its name. 18 Here is where wisdom comes in: Let the one that has intelligence calculate the number of the wild beast, for it is a man’s number; and its number is six hundred and sixty-six.
