15  Και μου λέει: «Τα νερά που είδες, όπου κάθεται η πόρνη, σημαίνουν λαούς και πλήθη και έθνη και γλώσσες.  16  Και τα δέκα κέρατα  που είδες, και το θηρίο,  αυτά θα μισήσουν την πόρνη  και θα την κάνουν ερημωμένη και γυμνή, και θα καταφάγουν τις σάρκες της και θα την κάψουν εντελώς με φωτιά.  17  Διότι ο Θεός έβαλε στις καρδιές τους να εκτελέσουν τη σκέψη του,  δηλαδή να εκτελέσουν τη δική τους μία σκέψη με το να δώσουν τη βασιλεία τους στο θηρίο,  μέχρι να εκπληρωθούν τα λόγια του Θεού.  18  Και η γυναίκα  που είδες σημαίνει τη μεγάλη πόλη η οποία έχει βασιλεία πάνω στους βασιλιάδες της γης».

18  Έπειτα από αυτά, είδα άλλον άγγελο να κατεβαίνει από τον ουρανό, με μεγάλη εξουσία·  και η γη φωτίστηκε από τη δόξα του.  2  Και φώναξε με δυνατή φωνή,  λέγοντας: «Έπεσε! Έπεσε η Βαβυλώνα η Μεγάλη,  και έγινε κατοικία δαιμόνων και κρησφύγετο κάθε ακάθαρτης αναθυμίασης  και κρησφύγετο κάθε ακάθαρτου και μισητού πουλιού!  3  Διότι εξαιτίας του κρασιού του θυμού της πορνείας της έχουν πέσει θύματα  όλα τα έθνη, και οι βασιλιάδες της γης πόρνευσαν  μαζί της, και οι περιοδεύοντες έμποροι  της γης πλούτισαν λόγω της δύναμης της ξεδιάντροπης χλιδής της».  

   4  Και άκουσα άλλη φωνή από τον ουρανό να λέει: «Βγείτε από αυτήν, λαέ μου,  αν δεν θέλετε να συμμετάσχετε με αυτήν στις αμαρτίες της  και αν δεν θέλετε να λάβετε από τις πληγές της. 5  Διότι οι αμαρτίες της συσσωρεύτηκαν μέχρι τον ουρανό,  και ο Θεός θυμήθηκε τις άδικες πράξεις της.  6  Αποδώστε σε αυτήν όπως και η ίδια απέδωσε,  και κάντε της δύο φορές περισσότερα, ναι, διπλάσια από αυτά που έκανε·  στο ποτήρι  στο οποίο έβαλε κάποιο μείγμα βάλτε της δύο φορές  περισσότερο μείγμα.  7  Όσο δόξασε τον εαυτό της και έζησε σε ξεδιάντροπη χλιδή, τόσο δώστε της βασανισμό και πένθος.  Διότι λέει μέσα στην καρδιά της: “Κάθομαι βασίλισσα,  και χήρα δεν είμαι,  και ποτέ δεν θα δω πένθος”.  8  Γι’ αυτό, σε μία ημέρα θα έρθουν οι πληγές της,  θάνατος και πένθος και πείνα, και θα καεί εντελώς με φωτιά,  επειδή ο Ιεχωβά Θεός, ο οποίος την έκρινε, είναι ισχυρός.  

   9  »Και οι βασιλιάδες  της γης που πόρνευσαν μαζί της και έζησαν σε ξεδιάντροπη χλιδή θα κλαίνε και θα χτυπούν τον εαυτό τους από λύπη για αυτήν,  όταν θα κοιτάζουν τον καπνό  από το κάψιμό της, 10  καθώς θα στέκονται σε απόσταση εξαιτίας του φόβου τους για το βασανισμό της και θα λένε:  “Αλίμονο, αλίμονο μεγάλη πόλη,  Βαβυλώνα, εσύ η ισχυρή πόλη, επειδή σε μία ώρα ήρθε η κρίση σου!”  
 

15 And he says to me: “The waters that you saw, where the harlot is sitting, mean peoples and crowds and nations and tongues. 16 And the ten horns that you saw, and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire. 17 For God put [it] into their hearts to carry out his thought, even to carry out [their] one thought by giving their kingdom to the wild beast, until the words of God will have been accomplished. 18 And the woman whom you saw means the great city that has a kingdom over the kings of the earth.”

18 After these things I saw another angel descending from heaven, with great authority; and the earth was lighted up from his glory. 2 And he cried out with a strong voice, saying: “She has fallen! Babylon the Great has fallen, and she has become a dwelling place of demons and a lurking place of every unclean exhalation and a lurking place of every unclean and hated bird! 3 For because of the wine of the anger of her fornication all the nations have fallen [victim], and the kings of the earth committed fornication with her, and the traveling merchants of the earth became rich due to the power of her shameless luxury.”

4 And I heard another voice out of heaven say: “Get out of her, my people, if YOU do not want to share with her in her sins, and if YOU do not want to receive part of her plagues. 5 For her sins have massed together clear up to heaven, and God has called her acts of injustice to mind. 6 Render to her even as she herself rendered, and do to her twice as much, yes, twice the number of the things she did; in the cup in which she put a mixture put twice as much of the mixture for her. 7 To the extent that she glorified herself and lived in shameless luxury, to that extent give her torment and mourning. For in her heart she keeps saying, ‘I sit a queen, and I am no widow, and I shall never see mourning.’ 8 That is why in one day her plagues will come, death and mourning and famine, and she will be completely burned with fire, because Jehovah God, who judged her, is strong.

9 “And the kings of the earth who committed fornication with her and lived in shameless luxury will weep and beat themselves in grief over her, when they look at the smoke from the burning of her, 10 while they stand at a distance because of their fear of her torment and say, ‘Too bad, too bad, you great city, Babylon you strong city, because in one hour your judgment has arrived!’
