26  Αφού τελείωσε ο Ιησούς όλα αυτά τα λόγια, είπε στους μαθητές του: 2 «Ξέρετε ότι σε δύο ημέρες από τώρα γίνεται το πάσχα, και ο Γιος του ανθρώπου θα παραδοθεί για να κρεμαστεί στο ξύλο».

   3 Τότε συγκεντρώθηκαν οι πρωθιερείς και οι πρεσβύτεροι του λαού στην αυλή του αρχιερέα ο οποίος ονομαζόταν Καϊάφας, 4 και συνεννοήθηκαν να πιάσουν τον Ιησού με δολοπλοκία και να τον σκοτώσουν. 5 Ωστόσο, έλεγαν: «Όχι στη γιορτή, για να μη γίνει σάλος μεταξύ του λαού».

   6 Ενώ ο Ιησούς ήταν στη Βηθανία, στο σπίτι του Σίμωνα του λεπρού, 7 τον πλησίασε μια γυναίκα που είχε ένα αλαβάστρινο δοχείο με ακριβό αρωματικό λάδι, και άρχισε να το χύνει στο κεφάλι του καθώς αυτός πλάγιαζε μπροστά στο τραπέζι. 8 Μόλις το είδαν αυτό, οι μαθητές αγανάκτησαν και είπαν: «Γιατί αυτή η σπατάλη; 9 Διότι αυτό θα μπορούσε να είχε πουληθεί ακριβά και να είχε δοθεί σε φτωχούς». 10 Γνωρίζοντάς το αυτό, ο Ιησούς τούς είπε: «Γιατί προσπαθείτε να δημιουργήσετε προβλήματα στη γυναίκα; Διότι αυτή έκανε μια καλή πράξη προς εμένα. 11 Τους φτωχούς άλλωστε τους έχετε πάντοτε μαζί σας, αλλά εμένα δεν θα με έχετε πάντοτε. 12 Διότι όταν αυτή η γυναίκα έβαλε αυτό το αρωματικό λάδι πάνω στο σώμα μου, το έκανε για να με προετοιμάσει για την ταφή. 13 Αληθινά σας λέω: Οπουδήποτε κηρυχτούν αυτά τα καλά νέα σε όλο τον κόσμο, θα ειπωθεί και αυτό που έκανε αυτή η γυναίκα, σε ανάμνησή της».

   14 Τότε ένας από τους δώδεκα, αυτός που ονομαζόταν Ιούδας Ισκαριώτης, πήγε στους πρωθιερείς 15 και είπε: «Τι θα μου δώσετε για να σας τον προδώσω;» Αυτοί του καθόρισαν τριάντα ασημένια νομίσματα. 16 Από τότε, λοιπόν, εκείνος ζητούσε μια καλή ευκαιρία για να τον προδώσει.

   17 Την πρώτη ημέρα των άζυμων άρτων πλησίασαν οι μαθητές τον Ιησού, λέγοντας: «Πού θέλεις να σου ετοιμάσουμε να φας το πάσχα;» 18 Αυτός είπε: «Πηγαίνετε στην πόλη, στον Τάδε, και πείτε του: Ο Δάσκαλος λέει: “Ο προσδιορισμένος καιρός μου έχει πλησιάσει· θα γιορτάσω το πάσχα με τους μαθητές μου στο σπίτι σου”». 19 Και οι μαθητές ενήργησαν όπως τους πρόσταξε ο Ιησούς και ετοίμασαν το πάσχα.

   20 Όταν, λοιπόν, βράδιασε, αυτός πλάγιαζε μπροστά στο τραπέζι μαζί με τους δώδεκα μαθητές. 21 Ενώ έτρωγαν, είπε: «Αληθινά σας λέω: Ένας από εσάς θα με προδώσει». 22 Επειδή λυπήθηκαν πάρα πολύ για αυτό, άρχισε ο καθένας τους να του λέει: «Κύριε, μήπως είμαι εγώ;» 23 Απαντώντας αυτός είπε: «Εκείνος που βουτάει το χέρι του μαζί μου στην κούπα, αυτός θα με προδώσει. 24 Βέβαια, ο Γιος του ανθρώπου φεύγει, όπως είναι γραμμένο σχετικά με αυτόν, αλλά αλίμονο σε εκείνον τον άνθρωπο μέσω του οποίου προδίδεται ο Γιος του ανθρώπου! Θα ήταν καλύτερο για εκείνον τον άνθρωπο να μην είχε γεννηθεί». 25 Απαντώντας ο Ιούδας, ο οποίος επρόκειτο σύντομα να τον προδώσει, είπε: «Μήπως είμαι εγώ, Ραββί;» Αυτός του είπε: «Εσύ ο ίδιος το είπες».
 

26 Now when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples: 2 “YOU know that two days from now the passover occurs, and the Son of man is to be delivered up to be impaled.”

3 Then the chief priests and the older men of the people gathered together in the courtyard of the high priest who was called Caiaphas, 4 and took counsel together to seize Jesus by crafty device and kill him. 5 However, they kept saying: “Not at the festival, in order that no uproar may arise among the people.”

6 While Jesus happened to be in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, 7 a woman with an alabaster case of costly perfumed oil approached him, and she began pouring it upon his head as he was reclining at the table. 8 On seeing this the disciples became indignant and said: “Why this waste? 9 For this could have been sold for a great deal and been given to poor people.” 10 Aware of this, Jesus said to them: “Why do YOU try to make trouble for the woman? For she did a fine deed toward me. 11 For YOU always have the poor with YOU, but YOU will not always have me. 12 For when this woman put this perfumed oil upon my body, she did it for the preparation of me for burial. 13 Truly I say to YOU, Wherever this good news is preached in all the world, what this woman did shall also be told as a remembrance of her.”

14 Then one of the twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said: “What will YOU give me to betray him to YOU?” They stipulated to him thirty silver pieces. 16 So from then on he kept seeking a good opportunity to betray him.

17 On the first day of the unfermented cakes the disciples came up to Jesus, saying: “Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the passover?” 18 He said: “Go into the city to So-and-so and say to him, The Teacher says, ‘My appointed time is near; I will celebrate the passover with my disciples at your home.’” 19 And the disciples did as Jesus ordered them, and they got things ready for the passover.

20 When, now, it had become evening, he was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples. 21 While they were eating, he said: “Truly I say to YOU, One of YOU will betray me.” 22 Being very much grieved at this, they commenced each and every one to say to him: “Lord, it is not I, is it?” 23 In reply he said: “He that dips his hand with me in the bowl is the one that will betray me. 24 True, the Son of man is going away, just as it is written concerning him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would have been finer for him if that man had not been born.” 25 By way of reply Judas, who was about to betray him, said: “It is not I, is it, Rabbi?” He said to him: “You yourself said [it].”
