Ματθαίος 7:15―8:13

   15 »Να προσέχετε από τους ψευδοπροφήτες οι οποίοι έρχονται σε εσάς με ένδυμα προβάτου, αλλά από μέσα είναι αρπακτικοί λύκοι. 16 Από τους καρπούς τους θα τους αναγνωρίσετε. Μήπως μαζεύουν ποτέ οι άνθρωποι σταφύλια από αγκάθια ή σύκα από τριβόλια; 17 Παρόμοια, κάθε καλό δέντρο παράγει καλούς καρπούς, αλλά κάθε σάπιο δέντρο παράγει άχρηστους καρπούς· 18 ένα καλό δέντρο δεν μπορεί να κάνει άχρηστους καρπούς, ούτε ένα σάπιο δέντρο μπορεί να παράγει καλούς καρπούς. 19 Κάθε δέντρο που δεν παράγει καλό καρπό κόβεται και ρίχνεται στη φωτιά. 20 Πράγματι, λοιπόν, από τους καρπούς τους θα τους αναγνωρίσετε αυτούς.

   21 »Δεν θα μπει στη βασιλεία των ουρανών ο καθένας που μου λέει “Κύριε, Κύριε”, αλλά εκείνος που κάνει το θέλημα του Πατέρα μου που είναι στους ουρανούς. 22 Πολλοί θα μου πουν εκείνη την ημέρα: “Κύριε, Κύριε, δεν προφητεύσαμε στο όνομά σου, και δεν εκβάλαμε δαίμονες στο όνομά σου, και δεν εκτελέσαμε πολλά δυναμικά έργα στο όνομά σου;” 23 Και όμως, τότε θα ομολογήσω σε αυτούς: Ποτέ δεν σας γνώρισα! Φύγετε από εμένα, εργάτες της ανομίας.

   24 »Επομένως, όποιος ακούει αυτά τα λόγια μου και τα εκτελεί θα παρομοιαστεί με έναν φρόνιμο άντρα, ο οποίος έχτισε το σπίτι του πάνω στο βράχο. 25 Και έπεσε η βροχή και ήρθαν οι πλημμύρες και φύσηξαν οι άνεμοι και χτύπησαν με ορμή εκείνο το σπίτι, αλλά αυτό δεν έπεσε, γιατί είχε θεμελιωθεί πάνω στο βράχο. 26 Επιπλέον, όποιος ακούει αυτά τα λόγια μου και δεν τα εκτελεί θα παρομοιαστεί με έναν ανόητο άντρα, ο οποίος έχτισε το σπίτι του στην άμμο. 27 Και έπεσε η βροχή και ήρθαν οι πλημμύρες και φύσηξαν οι άνεμοι και έπληξαν εκείνο το σπίτι και έπεσε, και η κατάρρευσή του ήταν μεγάλη».

   28 Όταν, λοιπόν, ο Ιησούς τελείωσε αυτά τα λόγια, το αποτέλεσμα ήταν να μείνουν τα πλήθη έκπληκτα με τον τρόπο με τον οποίο δίδασκε· 29 διότι τους δίδασκε ως άτομο που είχε εξουσία, και όχι όπως οι γραμματείς τους.

8 Αφού κατέβηκε από το βουνό, τον ακολούθησαν μεγάλα πλήθη. 2 Και ένας λεπρός πλησίασε και άρχισε να τον προσκυνάει, λέγοντας: «Κύριε, αν εσύ θέλεις, μπορείς να με καθαρίσεις». 3 Απλώνοντας, λοιπόν, το χέρι του, εκείνος τον άγγιξε και του είπε: «Θέλω. Καθαρίσου». Και αμέσως η λέπρα του καθαρίστηκε. 4 Τότε ο Ιησούς τού είπε: «Κοίταξε να μην το πεις σε κανέναν, αλλά πήγαινε, δείξε τον εαυτό σου στον ιερέα και πρόσφερε το δώρο που όρισε ο Μωυσής, για μαρτυρία σε αυτούς».

5 Όταν μπήκε στην Καπερναούμ, ήρθε σε αυτόν ένας αξιωματικός, ικετεύοντάς τον 6 και λέγοντας: «Κύριε, ο υπηρέτης μου κείτεται στο σπίτι παράλυτος και βασανίζεται τρομερά». 7 Αυτός του είπε: «Όταν έρθω εκεί θα τον θεραπεύσω». 8 Απαντώντας ο αξιωματικός είπε: «Κύριε, δεν είμαι άξιος να μπεις εσύ κάτω από τη στέγη μου, αλλά μόνο πες έναν λόγο και ο υπηρέτης μου θα γιατρευτεί. 9 Διότι και εγώ είμαι άνθρωπος που υπόκειται σε εξουσία και έχω στρατιώτες στη δικαιοδοσία μου, και λέω στον έναν: “Πήγαινε!” και πηγαίνει, και στον άλλον: “Έλα!” και έρχεται, και στο δούλο μου: “Κάνε αυτό!” και το κάνει». 10 Ακούγοντάς το αυτό, ο Ιησούς θαύμασε και είπε σε εκείνους που τον ακολουθούσαν: «Σας λέω την αλήθεια: Σε κανέναν στον Ισραήλ δεν βρήκα τόσο μεγάλη πίστη. 11 Σας λέω δε ότι πολλοί από τα ανατολικά μέρη και τα δυτικά μέρη θα έρθουν και θα πλαγιάσουν μπροστά στο τραπέζι με τον Αβραάμ και τον Ισαάκ και τον Ιακώβ στη βασιλεία των ουρανών, 12 ενώ οι γιοι της βασιλείας θα ριχτούν έξω στο σκοτάδι. Εκεί θα είναι το κλάμα τους και το τρίξιμο των δοντιών τους». 13 Τότε ο Ιησούς είπε στον αξιωματικό: «Πήγαινε. Όπως υπήρξε η πίστη σου, έτσι ας γίνει για εσένα». Και ο υπηρέτης γιατρεύτηκε εκείνη την ώρα.

15 “Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; 18 a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men].

21 “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ 23 And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness.

24 “Therefore everyone that hears these sayings of mine and does them will be likened to a discreet man, who built his house upon the rock-mass. 25 And the rain poured down and the floods came and the winds blew and lashed against that house, but it did not cave in, for it had been founded upon the rock-mass. 26 Furthermore, everyone hearing these sayings of mine and not doing them will be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand. 27 And the rain poured down and the floods came and the winds blew and struck against that house and it caved in, and its collapse was great.”

28 Now when Jesus finished these sayings, the effect was that the crowds were astounded at his way of teaching; 29 for he was teaching them as a person having authority, and not as their scribes.

8 After he had come down from the mountain great crowds followed him. 2 And, look! a leprous man came up and began doing obeisance to him, saying: “Lord, if you just want to, you can make me clean.” 3 And so, stretching out [his] hand, he touched him, saying: “I want to. Be made clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed away. 4 Then Jesus said to him: “See that you tell no one, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses appointed, for the purpose of a witness to them.”

5 When he entered into Capernaum, an army officer came to him, entreating him 6 and saying: “Sir, my manservant is laid up in the house with paralysis, being terribly tormented.” 7 He said to him: “When I get there I will cure him.” 8 In reply the army officer said: “Sir, I am not a fit man for you to enter under my roof, but just say the word and my manservant will be healed. 9 For I too am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me, and I say to this one, ‘Be on your way!’ and he is on his way, and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.” 10 Hearing that, Jesus became amazed and said to those following him: “I tell YOU the truth, With no one in Israel have I found so great a faith. 11 But I tell YOU that many from eastern parts and western parts will come and recline at the table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens; 12 whereas the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the darkness outside. There is where [their] weeping and the gnashing of [their] teeth will be.” 13 Then Jesus said to the army officer: “Go. Just as it has been your faith, so let it come to pass for you.” And the manservant was healed in that hour.
