34 Όλα αυτά τα είπε ο Ιησούς στα πλήθη με παραβολές. Και χωρίς παραβολή δεν τους μιλούσε· 35 για να εκπληρωθεί αυτό που λέχθηκε μέσω του προφήτη, ο οποίος είπε: «Θα ανοίξω το στόμα μου με παραβολές, θα διαγγείλω πράγματα αποκρυμμένα από τον καιρό της θεμελίωσης του κόσμου».

   36 Τότε, αφού διέλυσε τα πλήθη, μπήκε στο σπίτι. Και οι μαθητές του ήρθαν σε αυτόν και είπαν: «Εξήγησέ μας την παραβολή των ζιζανίων στον αγρό». 37 Απαντώντας αυτός είπε: «Ο σπορέας του καλού σπόρου είναι ο Γιος του ανθρώπου· 38 ο αγρός είναι ο κόσμος· όσο για τον καλό σπόρο, αυτοί είναι οι γιοι της βασιλείας· αλλά τα ζιζάνια είναι οι γιοι του πονηρού, 39 και ο εχθρός που τα έσπειρε είναι ο Διάβολος. Ο θερισμός είναι η τελική περίοδος ενός συστήματος πραγμάτων, και οι θεριστές είναι άγγελοι. 40 Όπως, λοιπόν, μαζεύονται τα ζιζάνια και καίγονται με φωτιά, έτσι θα είναι στην τελική περίοδο του συστήματος πραγμάτων. 41 Ο Γιος του ανθρώπου θα αποστείλει τους αγγέλους του, και αυτοί θα μαζέψουν από τη βασιλεία του όλα όσα προξενούν σκάνδαλο καθώς και εκείνους που πράττουν την ανομία, 42 και θα τους ρίξουν στο πύρινο καμίνι. Εκεί θα είναι το κλάμα τους και το τρίξιμο των δοντιών τους. 43 Εκείνον τον καιρό οι δίκαιοι θα λάμψουν τόσο φωτεινά όσο ο ήλιος στη βασιλεία του Πατέρα τους. Αυτός που έχει αφτιά ας ακούει.

   44 »Η βασιλεία των ουρανών μοιάζει με θησαυρό κρυμμένο στον αγρό, τον οποίο βρήκε κάποιος άνθρωπος και έκρυψε· και από τη χαρά που έχει, πηγαίνει και πουλάει όσα έχει και αγοράζει εκείνον τον αγρό.

   45 »Πάλι, η βασιλεία των ουρανών μοιάζει με περιοδεύοντα έμπορο που έψαχνε για καλά μαργαριτάρια. 46 Μόλις βρήκε ένα μαργαριτάρι μεγάλης αξίας, έφυγε και πούλησε αμέσως όλα όσα είχε και το αγόρασε.

   47 »Πάλι, η βασιλεία των ουρανών μοιάζει με συρόμενο δίχτυ που ρίχτηκε στη θάλασσα και μάζεψε ψάρια κάθε είδους. 48 Όταν γέμισε, το τράβηξαν στην ακρογιαλιά και, αφού κάθησαν, μάζεψαν τα καλά μέσα σε σκεύη, αλλά τα ακατάλληλα τα πέταξαν. 49 Έτσι θα είναι στην τελική περίοδο του συστήματος πραγμάτων: Οι άγγελοι θα βγουν και θα ξεχωρίσουν τους πονηρούς ανάμεσα από τους δικαίους 50 και θα τους ρίξουν στο πύρινο καμίνι. Εκεί θα είναι το κλάμα τους και το τρίξιμο των δοντιών τους.

   51 »Συλλάβατε το νόημα όλων αυτών;» Εκείνοι του είπαν: «Ναι». 52 Τότε τους είπε: «Αφού είναι έτσι, κάθε δημόσιος δάσκαλος, όταν διδάσκεται σχετικά με τη βασιλεία των ουρανών, μοιάζει με άνθρωπο, οικοδεσπότη, ο οποίος βγάζει από το θησαυροφυλάκιό του πράγματα καινούρια και παλιά».

   53 Όταν, λοιπόν, ο Ιησούς τελείωσε αυτές τις παραβολές, έφυγε από εκεί διασχίζοντας την περιοχή. 54 Και αφού ήρθε στον τόπο του, άρχισε να τους διδάσκει στη συναγωγή τους, ώστε αυτοί έμεναν έκπληκτοι και έλεγαν: «Πού βρήκε αυτός ο άνθρωπος αυτή τη σοφία και αυτά τα δυναμικά έργα; 55 Δεν είναι αυτός ο γιος του ξυλουργού; Δεν ονομάζεται η μητέρα του Μαρία, και οι αδελφοί του Ιάκωβος και Ιωσήφ και Σίμων και Ιούδας; 56 Και οι αδελφές του δεν είναι όλες μαζί μας; Πού τα βρήκε, λοιπόν, αυτός ο άνθρωπος όλα αυτά τα πράγματα;» 57 Γι’ αυτό, άρχισαν να σκανδαλίζονται με αυτόν. Αλλά ο Ιησούς τούς είπε: «Δεν υπάρχει προφήτης χωρίς τιμή παρά μόνο στον τόπο του και στο ίδιο του το σπίτι». 58 Και δεν έκανε πολλά δυναμικά έργα εκεί εξαιτίας της απιστίας τους.

 

34 All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds by illustrations. Indeed, without an illustration he would not speak to them; 35 that there might be fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet who said: “I will open my mouth with illustrations, I will publish things hidden since the founding.”

36 Then after dismissing the crowds he went into the house. And his disciples came to him and said: “Explain to us the illustration of the weeds in the field.” 37 In response he said: “The sower of the fine seed is the Son of man; 38 the field is the world; as for the fine seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; but the weeds are the sons of the wicked one, 39 and the enemy that sowed them is the Devil. The harvest is a conclusion of a system of things, and the reapers are angels. 40 Therefore, just as the weeds are collected and burned with fire, so it will be in the conclusion of the system of things. 41 The Son of man will send forth his angels, and they will collect out from his kingdom all things that cause stumbling and persons who are doing lawlessness, 42 and they will pitch them into the fiery furnace. There is where [their] weeping and the gnashing of [their] teeth will be. 43 At that time the righteous ones will shine as brightly as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Let him that has ears listen.

44 “The kingdom of the heavens is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid; and for the joy he has he goes and sells what things he has and buys that field.

45 “Again the kingdom of the heavens is like a traveling merchant seeking fine pearls. 46 Upon finding one pearl of high value, away he went and promptly sold all the things he had and bought it.

47 “Again the kingdom of the heavens is like a dragnet let down into the sea and gathering up [fish] of every kind. 48 When it got full they hauled it up onto the beach and, sitting down, they collected the fine ones into vessels, but the unsuitable they threw away. 49 That is how it will be in the conclusion of the system of things: the angels will go out and separate the wicked from among the righteous 50 and will cast them into the fiery furnace. There is where [their] weeping and the gnashing of [their] teeth will be.

51 “Did YOU get the sense of all these things?” They said to him: “Yes.” 52 Then he said to them: “That being the case, every public instructor, when taught respecting the kingdom of the heavens, is like a man, a householder, who brings out of his treasure store things new and old.”

53 Now when Jesus had finished these illustrations he went across country from there. 54 And after coming into his home territory he began to teach them in their synagogue, so that they were astounded and said: “Where did this man get this wisdom and these powerful works? 55 Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? 56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Where, then, did this man get all these things?” 57 So they began to stumble at him. But Jesus said to them: “A prophet is not unhonored except in his home territory and in his own house.” 58 And he did not do many powerful works there on account of their lack of faith.
