21 Φεύγοντας από εκεί, ο Ιησούς αποσύρθηκε στα μέρη της Τύρου και της Σιδώνας. 22 Και μια Φοίνισσα γυναίκα από εκείνες τις περιοχές βγήκε και φώναζε δυνατά, λέγοντας: «Ελέησέ με, Κύριε, Γιε του Δαβίδ! Η κόρη μου δαιμονίζεται άσχημα». 23 Αλλά αυτός δεν της απάντησε λέξη. Οι μαθητές του, λοιπόν, πλησίασαν και άρχισαν να τον παρακαλούν: «Πες της να φύγει· επειδή κραυγάζει πίσω μας». 24 Απαντώντας αυτός είπε: «Δεν στάλθηκα σε κανέναν παρά μόνο στα χαμένα πρόβατα του οίκου του Ισραήλ». 25 Όταν ήρθε η γυναίκα, άρχισε να τον προσκυνάει, λέγοντας: «Κύριε, βοήθα με!» 26 Απαντώντας αυτός είπε: «Δεν είναι σωστό να πάρει κανείς το ψωμί των παιδιών και να το ρίξει στα σκυλάκια». 27 Εκείνη είπε: «Ναι, Κύριε· αλλά και τα σκυλάκια τρώνε από τα ψίχουλα που πέφτουν από το τραπέζι των κυρίων τους». 28 Τότε ο Ιησούς αποκρίθηκε και της είπε: «Ω! γυναίκα, μεγάλη είναι η πίστη σου· ας γίνει σε εσένα όπως θέλεις». Και η κόρη της γιατρεύτηκε από εκείνη την ώρα.

29 Διασχίζοντας την ύπαιθρο από εκεί, ο Ιησούς κατόπιν ήρθε κοντά στη θάλασσα της Γαλιλαίας και, αφού ανέβηκε στο βουνό, καθόταν εκεί. 30 Τότε τον πλησίασαν μεγάλα πλήθη που είχαν μαζί τους κουτσούς, κουλούς, τυφλούς, βουβούς και άλλους πολλούς, και τους έριξαν στα πόδια του, και εκείνος τους θεράπευσε· 31 ώστε το πλήθος θαύμασε βλέποντας τους βουβούς να μιλούν και τους κουτσούς να περπατούν και τους τυφλούς να βλέπουν, και δόξασαν τον Θεό του Ισραήλ.

   32 Ο δε Ιησούς φώναξε τους μαθητές του και είπε: «Σπλαχνίζομαι το πλήθος, επειδή είναι ήδη τρεις ημέρες που μένουν μαζί μου και δεν έχουν τίποτα να φάνε· και δεν θέλω να τους πω να φύγουν νηστικοί. Μπορεί να εξαντληθούν στο δρόμο». 33 Ωστόσο, οι μαθητές τού είπαν: «Πού θα βρούμε εμείς σε αυτόν τον ερημικό τόπο αρκετά ψωμιά για να χορτάσουμε τόσο πλήθος;» 34 Τότε ο Ιησούς τούς είπε: «Πόσα ψωμιά έχετε;» Αυτοί είπαν: «Εφτά, και λίγα μικρά ψάρια». 35 Αφού, λοιπόν, έδωσε οδηγίες στο πλήθος να πλαγιάσουν στο έδαφος, 36 πήρε τα εφτά ψωμιά και τα ψάρια και, αφού έκανε μια ευχαριστήρια προσευχή, τα έσπασε και άρχισε να τα μοιράζει στους μαθητές, οι δε μαθητές στα πλήθη. 37 Και όλοι έφαγαν και χόρτασαν, και σήκωσαν ως περίσσευμα από τα κομμάτια εφτά γεμάτα καλάθια τροφίμων. 38 Και όμως εκείνοι που έφαγαν ήταν τέσσερις χιλιάδες άντρες εκτός από τις γυναίκες και τα μικρά παιδιά. 39 Τελικά, αφού είπε στα πλήθη να φύγουν, μπήκε στο πλοιάριο και ήρθε στις περιοχές της Μαγαδάν.

16  Και τον πλησίασαν οι Φαρισαίοι και οι Σαδδουκαίοι και, για να τον βάλουν σε πειρασμό, του ζήτησαν να τους δείξει σημείο από τον ουρανό. 2 Απαντώντας τούς είπε: «[[Όταν βραδιάζει, λέτε: “Ο καιρός θα είναι αίθριος, γιατί ο ουρανός είναι κόκκινος σαν τη φωτιά”· 3 και το πρωί: “Θα είναι ψυχρός, βροχερός ο καιρός σήμερα, γιατί ο ουρανός είναι κόκκινος σαν τη φωτιά αλλά σκοτεινιασμένος”. Ξέρετε να ερμηνεύετε την όψη του ουρανού, τα σημεία των καιρών, όμως, δεν μπορείτε να τα ερμηνεύσετε.]] 4 Μια πονηρή και μοιχαλίδα γενιά ζητάει συνεχώς σημείο, αλλά σημείο δεν θα της δοθεί εκτός από το σημείο του Ιωνά». Τότε τους άφησε και έφυγε.

   5 Και οι μαθητές πέρασαν στην άλλη πλευρά και ξέχασαν να πάρουν ψωμιά. 6 Ο Ιησούς τούς είπε: «Να έχετε τα μάτια σας ανοιχτά και να προσέχετε από το προζύμι των Φαρισαίων και των Σαδδουκαίων». 7 Άρχισαν, λοιπόν, να συζητούν μεταξύ τους, λέγοντας: «Δεν πήραμε ψωμιά». 8 Γνωρίζοντάς το αυτό, ο Ιησούς είπε: «Γιατί κάνετε αυτή τη συζήτηση μεταξύ σας, επειδή δεν έχετε ψωμιά, ολιγόπιστοι; 9 Δεν διακρίνετε ακόμη το σημείο ούτε θυμάστε τα πέντε ψωμιά στην περίπτωση των πέντε χιλιάδων και πόσα καλάθια σηκώσατε; 10 Ούτε τα εφτά ψωμιά στην περίπτωση των τεσσάρων χιλιάδων και πόσα καλάθια τροφίμων σηκώσατε; 11 Πώς γίνεται να μη διακρίνετε ότι δεν σας μίλησα για ψωμιά; Να προσέχετε, όμως, από το προζύμι των Φαρισαίων και των Σαδδουκαίων». 12 Τότε κατάλαβαν ότι είπε να προσέχουν, όχι από το προζύμι των ψωμιών, αλλά από τη διδασκαλία των Φαρισαίων και των Σαδδουκαίων.
 

21 Leaving there, Jesus now withdrew into the parts of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And, look! a Phoenician woman from those regions came out and cried aloud, saying: “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David. My daughter is badly demonized.” 23 But he did not say a word in answer to her. So his disciples came up and began to request him: “Send her away; because she keeps crying out after us.” 24 In answer he said: “I was not sent forth to any but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25 When the woman came she began doing obeisance to him, saying: “Lord, help me!” 26 In answer he said: “It is not right to take the bread of the children and throw it to little dogs.” 27 She said: “Yes, Lord; but really the little dogs do eat of the crumbs falling from the table of their masters.” 28 Then Jesus said in reply to her: “O woman, great is your faith; let it happen to you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed from that hour on.

29 Crossing country from there, Jesus next came near the sea of Galilee, and, after going up into the mountain, he was sitting there. 30 Then great crowds approached him, having along with them people that were lame, maimed, blind, dumb, and many otherwise, and they fairly threw them at his feet, and he cured them; 31 so that the crowd felt amazement as they saw the dumb speaking and the lame walking and the blind seeing, and they glorified the God of Israel.

32 But Jesus called his disciples to him and said: “I feel pity for the crowd, because it is already three days that they have stayed with me and they have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away fasting. They may possibly give out on the road.” 33 However, the disciples said to him: “Where are we in this lonely place going to get sufficient loaves to satisfy a crowd of this size?” 34 At this Jesus said to them: “How many loaves have YOU?” They said: “Seven, and a few little fishes.” 35 So, after instructing the crowd to recline upon the ground, 36 he took the seven loaves and the fishes and, after offering thanks, he broke them and began distributing to the disciples, the disciples in turn to the crowds. 37 And all ate and were satisfied, and as a surplus of fragments they took up seven provision baskets full. 38 Yet those eating were four thousand men, besides women and young children. 39 Finally, after sending the crowds away, he got into the boat and came into the regions of Magadan.

16 Here the Pharisees and Sadducees approached him and, to tempt him, they asked him to display to them a sign from heaven. 2 In reply he said to them: “[[When evening falls YOU are accustomed to say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is fire-red’; 3 and at morning, ‘It will be wintry, rainy weather today, for the sky is fire-red, but gloomy-looking.’ YOU know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but the signs of the times YOU cannot interpret.]] 4 A wicked and adulterous generation keeps on seeking for a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah.” With that he went away, leaving them behind.

5 Now the disciples crossed to the other side and forgot to take loaves along. 6 Jesus said to them: “Keep YOUR eyes open and watch out for the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” 7 So they began to reason among themselves, saying: “We did not take any loaves along.” 8 Knowing this, Jesus said: “Why are YOU doing this reasoning among yourselves, because YOU have no loaves, YOU with little faith? 9 Do YOU not yet see the point, or do YOU not remember the five loaves in the case of the five thousand and how many baskets YOU took up? 10 Or the seven loaves in the case of the four thousand and how many provision baskets YOU took up? 11 How is it YOU do not discern that I did not talk to YOU about loaves? But watch out for the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” 12 Then they grasped that he said to watch out, not for the leaven of the loaves, but for the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
