Ματθαίος 19:13―19:30

   13 Τότε του έφεραν παιδάκια για να βάλει τα χέρια του πάνω σε αυτά και να προσευχηθεί· αλλά οι μαθητές τα επιτίμησαν. 14 Ο Ιησούς, ωστόσο, είπε: «Αφήστε τα παιδάκια και μην τα εμποδίζετε να έρθουν σε εμένα, γιατί σε τέτοιου είδους άτομα ανήκει η βασιλεία των ουρανών». 15 Και έβαλε τα χέρια του πάνω σε αυτά και έφυγε από εκεί.

   16 Τότε τον πλησίασε κάποιος και είπε: «Δάσκαλε, τι αγαθό πρέπει να κάνω για να αποκτήσω αιώνια ζωή;» 17 Αυτός του είπε: «Γιατί με ρωτάς σχετικά με το αγαθό; Ένας είναι ο αγαθός. Αν όμως θέλεις να μπεις στη ζωή, να τηρείς τις εντολές». 18 Εκείνος του είπε: «Ποιες;» Ο Ιησούς είπε: «Το, Δεν πρέπει να διαπράξεις φόνο, Δεν πρέπει να μοιχεύσεις, Δεν πρέπει να κλέψεις, Δεν πρέπει να ψευδομαρτυρήσεις, 19 Τίμα τον πατέρα σου και τη μητέρα σου, και, Πρέπει να αγαπάς τον πλησίον σου όπως τον εαυτό σου». 20 Ο νεαρός τού είπε: «Τα έχω τηρήσει όλα αυτά· τι μου λείπει ακόμη;» 21 Ο Ιησούς τού είπε: «Αν θέλεις να είσαι τέλειος, πήγαινε να πουλήσεις τα υπάρχοντά σου και δώσε τα στους φτωχούς, και θα έχεις θησαυρό στον ουρανό· και έλα να γίνεις ακόλουθός μου». 22 Όταν ο νεαρός άκουσε αυτά τα λόγια, έφυγε λυπημένος, γιατί είχε πολλά αποκτήματα. 23 Ο δε Ιησούς είπε στους μαθητές του: «Αληθινά σας λέω ότι θα είναι δύσκολο να μπει πλούσιος στη βασιλεία των ουρανών. 24 Πάλι σας λέω: Ευκολότερο είναι να περάσει καμήλα μέσα από την τρύπα μιας βελόνας παρά να μπει πλούσιος στη βασιλεία του Θεού».

   25 Όταν οι μαθητές το άκουσαν αυτό, εξέφρασαν πολύ μεγάλη έκπληξη, λέγοντας: «Ποιος άραγε είναι δυνατόν να σωθεί;» 26 Κοιτάζοντάς τους κατάματα, ο Ιησούς τούς είπε: «Για τους ανθρώπους αυτό είναι αδύνατον, αλλά για τον Θεό τα πάντα είναι δυνατά».

   27 Τότε ο Πέτρος, απαντώντας, του είπε: «Δες! Εμείς αφήσαμε τα πάντα και σε ακολουθήσαμε· τι θα γίνει, λοιπόν, με εμάς;» 28 Ο Ιησούς τούς είπε: «Αληθινά σας λέω: Στην αναδημιουργία, όταν ο Γιος του ανθρώπου καθήσει στον ένδοξο θρόνο του, και εσείς επίσης που με ακολουθήσατε θα καθήσετε σε δώδεκα θρόνους, κρίνοντας τις δώδεκα φυλές του Ισραήλ. 29 Και όποιος άφησε σπίτια ή αδελφούς ή αδελφές ή πατέρα ή μητέρα ή παιδιά ή αγρούς για χάρη του ονόματός μου θα λάβει πολλές φορές περισσότερα και θα κληρονομήσει αιώνια ζωή.

   30 »Αλλά πολλοί που είναι πρώτοι θα είναι τελευταίοι και οι τελευταίοι πρώτοι.

13 Then young children were brought to him, for him to put his hands upon them and offer prayer; but the disciples reprimanded them. 14 Jesus, however, said: “Let the young children alone, and stop hindering them from coming to me, for the kingdom of the heavens belongs to suchlike ones.” 15 And he put his hands upon them and went from there.

16 Now, look! a certain one came up to him and said: “Teacher, what good must I do in order to get everlasting life?” 17 He said to him: “Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is that is good. If, though, you want to enter into life, observe the commandments continually.” 18 He said to him: “Which ones?” Jesus said: “Why, You must not murder, You must not commit adultery, You must not steal, You must not bear false witness, 19 Honor [your] father and [your] mother, and, You must love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man said to him: “I have kept all these; what yet am I lacking?” 21 Jesus said to him: “If you want to be perfect, go sell your belongings and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven, and come be my follower.” 22 When the young man heard this saying, he went away grieved, for he was holding many possessions. 23 But Jesus said to his disciples: “Truly I say to YOU that it will be a difficult thing for a rich man to get into the kingdom of the heavens. 24 Again I say to YOU, It is easier for a camel to get through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to get into the kingdom of God.”

25 When the disciples heard that, they expressed very great surprise, saying: “Who really can be saved?” 26 Looking them in the face, Jesus said to them: “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

27 Then Peter said to him in reply: “Look! We have left all things and followed you; what actually will there be for us?” 28 Jesus said to them: “Truly I say to YOU, In the re-creation, when the Son of man sits down upon his glorious throne, YOU who have followed me will also yourselves sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone that has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive many times more and will inherit everlasting life.

30 “But many that are first will be last and the last first.
