   12  Για παράδειγμα, όλοι όσοι αμάρτησαν χωρίς νόμο θα αφανιστούν επίσης χωρίς νόμο·  αλλά όλοι όσοι αμάρτησαν κάτω από νόμο  θα δικαστούν με βάση το νόμο.  13  Διότι δίκαιοι ενώπιον του Θεού δεν είναι οι ακροατές του νόμου, αλλά οι εκτελεστές  του νόμου θα ανακηρυχτούν δίκαιοι.  14  Διότι όποτε οι εθνικοί,  που δεν έχουν νόμο,  κάνουν από τη φύση τους τα πράγματα του νόμου,  αυτοί οι άνθρωποι, μολονότι δεν έχουν νόμο, είναι νόμος για τον εαυτό τους. 15  Αυτοί οι ίδιοι καταδεικνύουν ότι η ουσία του νόμου είναι γραμμένη στις καρδιές τους,  ενώ η συνείδησή  τους δίνει μαρτυρία μαζί με αυτούς και, μεταξύ των δικών τους σκέψεων, κατηγορούνται  ή και δικαιολογούνται. 16  Αυτό θα γίνει την ημέρα που ο Θεός, μέσω του Χριστού Ιησού, θα κρίνει  τα κρυφά  πράγματα των ανθρώπων,  σύμφωνα με τα καλά νέα τα οποία διακηρύττω. 

   17  Αν, τώρα, εσύ είσαι Ιουδαίος στο όνομα  και επαναπαύεσαι στο νόμο  και υπερηφανεύεσαι για τον Θεό,  18  και γνωρίζεις το θέλημά  του και επιδοκιμάζεις τα πράγματα που είναι έξοχα, επειδή είσαι προφορικά διδαγμένος από το Νόμο,  19  και είσαι πεπεισμένος ότι είσαι οδηγός των τυφλών,  φως για εκείνους που είναι στο σκοτάδι,  20  άτομο που διορθώνει τους παράλογους ανθρώπους,  δάσκαλος των νηπίων,  και ότι έχεις το σκελετό  της γνώσης και της αλήθειας  που βρίσκονται στο Νόμο— 21  εσύ, ωστόσο, που διδάσκεις κάποιον άλλον, δεν διδάσκεις τον εαυτό σου;  Εσύ, που κηρύττεις «Μην κλέψεις»,  κλέβεις;  22  Εσύ, που λες «Μη μοιχεύσεις»,  μοιχεύεις; Εσύ, που εκφράζεις αποστροφή για τα είδωλα, ληστεύεις  ναούς; 23  Εσύ, που υπερηφανεύεσαι για το νόμο, ατιμάζεις τον Θεό παραβαίνοντας το Νόμο;  24  Διότι «το όνομα του Θεού βλασφημείται εξαιτίας σας ανάμεσα στα έθνη»  όπως και είναι γραμμένο.

   25  Στην πραγματικότητα, η περιτομή  ωφελεί μόνο αν πράττεις το νόμο·  αλλά αν είσαι παραβάτης νόμου, η περιτομή  σου έχει γίνει μη περιτομή.  26  Αν, λοιπόν, ένας απερίτμητος  τηρεί τις δίκαιες απαιτήσεις  του Νόμου, δεν θα υπολογιστεί η μη περιτομή του ως περιτομή;  27  Και ο απερίτμητος, που είναι τέτοιος από τη φύση του, εφαρμόζοντας το Νόμο θα κρίνει εσένα  ο οποίος, έχοντας το γραπτό κώδικα και την περιτομή του Νόμου, είσαι παραβάτης νόμου. 28  Διότι Ιουδαίος δεν είναι εκείνος που είναι εξωτερικά Ιουδαίος  ούτε είναι περιτομή εκείνη που είναι εξωτερικά περιτομή, στη σάρκα.  29  Αλλά Ιουδαίος είναι εκείνος που είναι εσωτερικά Ιουδαίος,  και η περιτομή του είναι η περιτομή της καρδιάς  μέσω πνεύματος, και όχι μέσω γραπτού κώδικα.  Ο έπαινος  αυτού του ατόμου έρχεται, όχι από ανθρώπους, αλλά από τον Θεό.
 

12 For instance, all those who sinned without law will also perish without law; but all those who sinned under law will be judged by law. 13 For the hearers of law are not the ones righteous before God, but the doers of law will be declared righteous. 14 For whenever people of the nations that do not have law do by nature the things of the law, these people, although not having law, are a law to themselves. 15 They are the very ones who demonstrate the matter of the law to be written in their hearts, while their conscience is bearing witness with them and, between their own thoughts, they are being accused or even excused. 16 This will be in the day when God through Christ Jesus judges the secret things of mankind, according to the good news I declare.

17 If, now, you are a Jew in name and are resting upon law and taking pride in God, 18 and you know his will and approve of things that are excellent because you are orally instructed out of the Law; 19 and you are persuaded that you are a guide of the blind, a light for those in darkness, 20 a corrector of the unreasonable ones, a teacher of babes, and having the framework of the knowledge and of the truth in the Law— 21 do you, however, the one teaching someone else, not teach yourself? You, the one preaching “Do not steal,” do you steal? 22 You, the one saying “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You, the one expressing abhorrence of the idols, do you rob temples? 23 You, who take pride in law, do you by your transgressing of the Law dishonor God? 24 For “the name of God is being blasphemed on account of YOU people among the nations”; just as it is written.

25 Circumcision is, in fact, of benefit only if you practice law; but if you are a transgressor of law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. 26 If, therefore, an uncircumcised person keeps the righteous requirements of the Law, his uncircumcision will be counted as circumcision, will it not? 27 And the uncircumcised [person] that is such by nature will, by carrying out the Law, judge you who with its written code and circumcision are a transgressor of law. 28 For he is not a Jew who is one on the outside, nor is circumcision that which is on the outside upon the flesh. 29 But he is a Jew who is one on the inside, and [his] circumcision is that of the heart by spirit, and not by a written code. The praise of that one comes, not from men, but from God.
