Πράξεις 11:9 — 11:30

9 Τη δεύτερη φορά η φωνή από τον ουρανό απάντησε: “Αυτά που ο Θεός καθάρισε, εσύ μην τα αποκαλείς μολυσμένα”.  10 Αυτό συνέβη και τρίτη φορά, και όλα πάρθηκαν πάλι στον ουρανό.  11Και εκείνη τη στιγμή, τρεις άντρες στάθηκαν στο σπίτι στο οποίο ήμασταν, σταλμένοι από την Καισάρεια σε εμένα.  12 Το πνεύμα,  λοιπόν, μου είπε να πάω μαζί τους χωρίς να αμφιβάλλω καθόλου. Ήρθαν δε και αυτοί οι έξι αδελφοί μαζί μου, και μπήκαμε στο σπίτι εκείνου του άντρα. 

   13  »Εκείνος μας ανέφερε πώς είδε τον άγγελο, ο οποίος στάθηκε στο σπίτι του και είπε: “Στείλε άντρες στην Ιόππη και κάλεσε τον Σίμωνα που επονομάζεται Πέτρος,  14  και αυτός θα σου πει τα πράγματα εκείνα με τα οποία μπορείς να σωθείς  εσύ και όλο το σπιτικό σου”. 15 Αλλά όταν άρχισα να μιλώ, το άγιο πνεύμα ήρθε πάνω σε αυτούς όπως ήρθε και πάνω σε εμάς στην αρχή.  16 Τότε θυμήθηκα τα λόγια του Κυρίου, ότι έλεγε: “Ο Ιωάννης μεν βάφτισε με νερό,  αλλά εσείς θα βαφτιστείτε σε άγιο πνεύμα”.  17 Αν, λοιπόν, ο Θεός έδωσε σε αυτούς την ίδια δωρεά όπως έδωσε και σε εμάς που έχουμε πιστέψει στον Κύριο Ιησού Χριστό,  ποιος ήμουν εγώ που θα μπορούσα να εμποδίσω τον Θεό;» 

   18  Και όταν άκουσαν αυτά τα πράγματα, τα αποδέχτηκαν  ήσυχα και δόξασαν  τον Θεό, λέγοντας: «Ώστε λοιπόν, ο Θεός παραχώρησε και σε εθνικούς μετάνοια με σκοπό τη ζωή». 

   19  Στο μεταξύ, εκείνοι που είχαν διασκορπιστεί  από τη θλίψη η οποία έγινε εξαιτίας του Στεφάνου έφτασαν ως τη Φοινίκη  και την Κύπρο  και την Αντιόχεια αλλά δεν ανάγγελλαν το λόγο σε κανέναν παρά μόνο στους Ιουδαίους.  20  Ωστόσο, υπήρχαν από αυτούς μερικοί άντρες από την Κύπρο και την Κυρήνη που ήρθαν στην Αντιόχεια και άρχισαν να μιλούν στους ελληνόφωνους,  διακηρύττοντας τα καλά νέα για τον Κύριο Ιησού.  21Και το χέρι του Ιεχωβά  ήταν μαζί τους, και μεγάλος αριθμός ανθρώπων που έγιναν πιστοί στράφηκε στον Κύριο. 

   22  Η είδηση για αυτούς έφτασε στα αφτιά της εκκλησίας που ήταν στην Ιερουσαλήμ, και έστειλαν τον Βαρνάβα  ως την Αντιόχεια. 23 Όταν εκείνος έφτασε και είδε την παρ’ αξία καλοσύνη  του Θεού, χάρηκε  και άρχισε να τους ενθαρρύνει όλους να παραμένουν στον Κύριο με όλη τη θέληση της καρδιάς τους·  24 διότι ήταν άντρας αγαθός και γεμάτος άγιο πνεύμα και πίστη. Και αρκετά μεγάλο πλήθος προστέθηκε στον Κύριο.  25 Εκείνος, λοιπόν, έφυγε στην Ταρσό  για να αναζητήσει τον Σαύλο  26 και, αφού τον βρήκε, τον έφερε στην Αντιόχεια. Το αποτέλεσμα ήταν να συναθροίζονται επί έναν ολόκληρο χρόνο μαζί τους στην εκκλησία και να διδάσκουν ένα αρκετά μεγάλο πλήθος· και στην Αντιόχεια ήταν που για πρώτη φορά οι μαθητές ονομάστηκαν με θεϊκή πρόνοια Χριστιανοί. 

   27  Αυτές τις ημέρες κατέβηκαν στην Αντιόχεια προφήτες  από την Ιερουσαλήμ. 28 Ένας από αυτούς, ονόματι Άγαβος,  εγέρθηκε και άρχισε να επισημαίνει μέσω του πνεύματος ότι επρόκειτο να πέσει μεγάλη πείνα σε ολόκληρη την κατοικημένη γη,  η οποία και έγινε τον καιρό του Κλαύδιου. 29 Εκείνοι, λοιπόν, που ήταν μαθητές αποφάσισαν, ο καθένας τους σύμφωνα με ό,τι μπορούσε να διαθέσει,  να στείλουν βοήθεια  ως διακονία στους αδελφούς που κατοικούσαν στην Ιουδαία· 30 αυτό και έκαναν, στέλνοντάς την στους πρεσβυτέρους μέσω του Βαρνάβα και του Σαύλου. 
 

9 The second time the voice from heaven answered, ‘You stop calling defiled the things God has cleansed.’ 10 This occurred for a third time, and everything was pulled up again into heaven. 11 Also, look! at that instant there were three men standing at the house in which we were, they having been dispatched from Caesarea to me. 12 So the spirit told me to go with them, not doubting at all. But these six brothers also went with me, and we entered into the house of the man.

13 “He reported to us how he saw the angel stand in his house and say, ‘Dispatch men to Joppa and send for Simon who is surnamed Peter, 14 and he will speak those things to you by which you and all your household may get saved.’ 15 But when I started to speak, the holy spirit fell upon them just as it did also upon us in [the] beginning. 16 At this I called to mind the saying of the Lord, how he used to say, ‘John, for his part, baptized with water, but YOU will be baptized in holy spirit.’ 17 If, therefore, God gave the same free gift to them as he also did to us who have believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I should be able to hinder God?”

18 Now when they heard these things, they acquiesced, and they glorified God, saying: “Well, then, God has granted repentance for the purpose of life to people of the nations also.”

19 Consequently those who had been scattered by the tribulation that arose over Stephen went through as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, but speaking the word to no one except to Jews only. 20 However, out of them there were some men of Cyprus and Cyrene that came to Antioch and began talking to the Greek-speaking people, declaring the good news of the Lord Jesus. 21 Furthermore, the hand of Jehovah was with them, and a great number that became believers turned to the Lord.

22 The account about them got to the ears of the congregation that was in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas as far as Antioch. 23 When he arrived and saw the undeserved kindness of God, he rejoiced and began to encourage them all to continue in the Lord with hearty purpose; 24 for he was a good man and full of holy spirit and of faith. And a considerable crowd was added to the Lord. 25 So he went off to Tarsus to make a thorough search for Saul 26 and, after he found him, he brought him to Antioch. It thus came about that for a whole year they gathered together with them in the congregation and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.

27 Now in these days prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 One of them named Agabus rose and proceeded to indicate through the spirit that a great famine was about to come upon the entire inhabited earth; which, for that matter, did take place in the time of Claudius. 29 So those of the disciples determined, each of them according as anyone could afford it, to send a relief ministration to the brothers dwelling in Judea; 30 and this they did, dispatching it to the older men by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.
